1. Set Limitation to Media
Do not excessively exposed yourself to the media, News channel that run 24x7 updating about the widespread of covid-19 or checking repeatedly in the local news paper about the spread of virus, which will trigger anxiety and stress resulting to negative impact on mental health. Set you limitation to reliable updates from legitimate ones like WHO website, as misinformation may cause unnecessary anxiety, stress etc.
2. Stay connected with Loved and Dear Ones
It is imperative to stay connected with family and friends, supporting and encouraging each other to remain positive and for positive mental health through phone calls whats-app messages video calls and so on. Plan for a quality time with your own family that is difficult to plan due to the nature of your work or your wife/husband busy office schedule, children school/colleges activities. Grab this opportunity to rebuild your relationship with your family members and remain healthy mentally.
3. Focus on the Here and Now (Present)
Rather than being anxious of what is happening out there and worried for your own family members of being infected with the virus, meticulously follow the preventive measures and focus on what you can co do at the moment. For instance you can your shift your attention towards your hobbies or do what you love to do, else try out a new thing that one never does such as writing poems, gardening or teaching the kids, helping them to continue learning as the institutions are in complete lock down, don't let this crisis cease your learning, as learning is a lifelong process.
4. Self Care
Taking care of oneself is really important in trial times like this because there is no other being that care for you better than you care. You are accountable for your own well being because you are responsible for your action and thoughts not anyone else, because it is only when you permit your thoughts or actions for negative psyche, it happens. Therefore cultivating a positive mindset for a hopeful future and feeding our conscious and subconscious with more of positives psyche will help us to remain positive, regardless of the circumstances that the whole global is in at this very juncture.
